Wall and Floor Cracks
Cracks in a basement wall or floor usually trace back to water pressure building up outside the foundation, or soil shifting underneath it. What starts as a fine line can open wider with each wet season, eventually giving water a direct path into the house. A horizontal crack across a block wall points to a different problem than a vertical crack near a corner, so the pattern itself is worth noting before any repair. A crack caught while it’s still narrow is generally simpler to repair than one that’s had years to widen.
